A modular workflow for your HDR imaging chain.
As consumers continue to seek premium viewing experiences, more content is being produced for HDR-capable distribution platforms. LINK HDR addresses the challenge of viewing HDR (high dynamic range) images throughout the production and post-production processes. Panavision and Light Iron provide the ideal connective tissue bringing HDR and SDR viewing options to clients in tandem. Only with LINK HDR can cinematographers, directors, and editors leverage the ability to view their images in the same HDR format delivered to consumers at every stage in the imaging chain.
Panavision LINK HDR On-Set includes a plug-and-play mobile village system optimized for bringing familiar post-production quality HDR images right on the set. With a unique modular design, this mobile system can be configured for large and small monitors with several customizable footprints. LINK HDR On-Set is designed to interface with DITs that are working in SDR (Rec.709) or HDR (BT.2084) and can simultaneously produce additional SDR signals for use in other video village configurations downstream.
Panavision LINK HDR Dailies is the key to connecting high precision HDR images on-set look with DI Finishing. LINK HDR Dailies is a unique service provided by Light Iron in which editors are delivered a dual-set of dailies that are uniquely encoded into both HDR (BT.2020) and SDR (Rec.709) formats. With LINK HDR Dailies, editors can choose between monitoring or exporting in either SDR or HDR with the click of a button. Equipped with an HDR monitoring display, NLEs can dynamically switch formats without any additional rendering or horsepower required for a flexible HDR and SDR offline experience.
Panavision LINK HDR Finish is where polished looks are perfected by Light Iron’s trend-setting DI artists. Light Iron has always pioneered emerging technologies and continues to raise the creative bar by finishing the very first HDR distributed series. Working almost exclusively in HDR, Light Iron colorists are among the most experienced at advanced image pipelines and our collaborations with cinematographers have led to the invention of entirely new finished looks.
As the consumer electronics landscape continues to expand with more exhibition variables, it’s increasingly more important for cinematographers to have control over their images. Fueled by the talent and technology leadership at Panavision and Light Iron, LINK HDR is the only end-to-end solution in which preserving total image control across every exhibition platform becomes a reality.
